This breed need a good grooming almost everyday brushing but not wash them everyday like all other dogs. They not fall hairs much but still needed to brushing. They can be bossy dogs and aggressive sometimes and hard to handle. It can come to people strange but they are also into class of herding dogs. But not using for this in anywhere. Because of its grooming and health issues most people will avoid to have one of them. Because it can be costy for them. Also because of appearances they are little bit girly dogs and mostly choosen by female owners.
Common heatlh problems like Pugs and similar dogs their eyes are sensitive and hairs around eyes can cause irritation on eye balls oftenly. You need to use eyes creams, ointments, drops for this. Also like other small dogs you have to avoid them to mate with other breeds especially bigger breeds. Otherwise can cause troubles while they given birth. I suggest you to sterile them if you are not a breeder. Other common health problems hypothyroidism, liver problems, hip dysplasia, intervertebral disk disease, respiratory problems. Their coat also little bit different than other breeds anatomically with extra layer. And specifically on their nose hairs growing upwards. On top of their head mostly hairs attached with cliches because of their vision can be closed by hairs but you must be careful to do it. You should not tie it very tight or do not keep cliches very long there it can cause skin problems in route of hairs.
They do not need heavy exercises but they can be very lazy so sometimes you need to force them to walk time to time. With the kids has no problem and get along very well. Usually very calm and not barking too much. In England in 1946 and in American Kennel Club in 1969 they recognized.
