Balinese Names

In Bali there is special naming system which different than most of the world. For instance they do not use a surname or family name . In fact there is also no first name. There are four names only. Yes only 4. Which means first, second, third and fourth child. This is based on Hinduism's caste system. Balinese people are Hindu but they are not really following caste system as it is in India. But the names comes from Sanskrit or Hindi languages. 

Balinese Names

I and Ni means like Mr. and Mrs. in English

1. First born child       Wayan - Putu, Gede, Ni Luh, Iluh, Luh,
2. Second born child  Made  - Kadek, Adek, Ade, Nengah,
3. Third born child      Komang - Nyoman, Man, Mang,
4. Forth born child      Ketut   - Tut,

What if you have fifth kid? They just return to Wayan again and if sixth become Made again and so on. The other name is in fact peoples real name next to this names. It is not a family name. For example I Made Surita. Surita is the real name but they call each other mostly with these four birth order names. So if you call the person Surita even their relatives can not know who you talking about sometimes.

Also there are some other names based on caste or regional  things or pointing their elder relatives hero, king, priest, noble, important person etc.. Such as Gusti, Dewa, Dwi, Bagus Ayu, Agung....

Pasar Burung - Bird Market Bali

There is a place in Bali namely Bird Market. This place is like a market for pets. You can find almost all small animals like dogs, cats, birds, fishes, monkeys, turtles, parrots etc.. Also products such as kennels, carriers, cages, foods, traditional cages such as bamboo made cages etc..

 I found Pasar Burung is little bit filthy place and animals condition there is heart wrenching. They put dogs and cats in very small and dirty cages. Most of them probably do not have any vaccine or fake vaccine labels in their books.

So i am not sure if i recommend you to buy pets from there. Because any animal you buy from there will means you support them to continue it. I hope they will fix it soon. Or if you think ok i just save one of them from there yeah go for it.

There are also many cases about foundations and foreigners so i do not want to talk about this more. Because when people read such things they interpret it strangely and generalize things and it cause put a bad reputation on a nation which i do not like. I am personally against to sell animals. It is very deep topic anyway. It is just an option if you looking for an animal to buy.

How to find it? It is inside Denpasar which is not very touristic place if you compare with coasts of Bali. On Jalan Veteran ( jalan means road or street in Indonesian) but let me tell you the roads around that area mostly one way and you can hardly see one way sign.

Why people choose this way?

Everyone has a different reason to sell...

Primarily we have to understand as real estate consultants why sale by direct owners became a direct owners and they choose this way. Why do people sell or lease or rent their real estates themselves? What are the goals in this one? What thoughts or reasons pushing them to sale by direct owner (DO or FSBO).

1)  Thought of "I can sell by myself better"
2)  Have lot of time
3)  No trust
4)  Do not want to give commission
5) Thinks He/she will not get proper service
6) Have wide social environment, well-connected
7) Thinking they can sell for better price
8) Experiences from past
9) They have been always follow this way before

It can be added more reasons there. Generally DOs what makes them like this  "DO" is their thoughts. That is why they mostly will not want to use any consultants or agents.

When DOs are trying to liquidate their real estates they may experience some problems. If we briefly take a look at those;

1. Mistakes in marketing

They may have problems in marketing. For example, each property has a target audiences. If this target can not be identified correctly you can not reach right customer.

2. Problems to reach recipients

To reach the buyers they uses methods like newspaper advertisements, internet advertisements and some times it is only a " for sale " sign on their property. Sometimes also contacting to real estate agents close by. So is it that easy to sell a real estate? It is not like a chewing gum on shop.

 3. Difficulties to attract the prospect buyers

DOs can be contacted by phone or e-mails maybe even 40-50 times a day after they gave ads and those contacts mostly also real estate agents. They eagerly answer phones early days. But after a while they can get bored from that and their reaction to calls will be like " key is there or in my maid , take it and see it yourself"

4. Problems in evaluating the real buyers

Each prospective buyer can be different. While it was a balcony to delight to some buyers, at same time in same property the other one choose closed parking and the other one pick garden size and construction to buy it. The only way of knowing it to make a correct buyer analysis.  

5.Price negotiating mistakes

When they have a dept to pay next morning to pay how healthy can be a negotiation? 

6.Price determination

Their criteria mostly setting price of their property usually the house which they will buy new or their dept to pay or projects or future plans budgets, receivables and liabilities. So importance of region, m2 or any unit price around area and price fixing will not effect their price. 

7.Emotional barriers

Woulnt it be heartbreaking  when someone says "this kitchen i will demolish it and renew it. It is made tasteless" which you designed and took care carefully to build. What will be DOs reactions to buyers if they face with this?

8.Time loss

Isnt it a wasting time to struggle to sell your property by yourself while you can use that time with your family and other important things? 

9. Lack of consultancy

Issues like how to overcome bureaucratic obstacles on sale of real estate. What to do if there is mortgage problems, foreclosures, disputes on property. How many of DOs know the solutions of those?

Bali' Tropical Fruits

Bali Island is a tropical area and because of this reason it has lots of strange fruits, vegetables, plants and even animals there like entire Indonesia has.It is not only because it is tropical place but geographical condition. Indonesia is archipelago which has thousands of islands and isles. So their species are little bit different than the rest of the world. Well some of them extinct but anyway they still have some of them. I want to list here fruits especially. Maybe you familiar with Ananas, Coconut and Papaya but there are other fruits which probably you never heard or seen in your life. They are very healthy fruits like all other fruits anyway but only lackness maybe fiber because of rain. Rainy areas fruits and vegetables mostly has less fiber they said. Anyway eat fruits and vegetables even they have less fibers.

Fruits of Bali and Indonesia 

Here is list maybe not completed but i can update it later on. 

Snake Fruit - Salak

Local people call it salak. They name it snake fruit because of its armour looks like snake skin i guess. You can find it in Malaysia too. Balinese Salak is different than Jakarta one. Taste and appearance is little bit different. Salak is the maybe most famous one i can say among all fruits in Bali.

Durian

Big melon sized and strange fruit. It has also strange armour with sharp big thorns and it is hard skin. You can not easily open it. Durian also has very strange smell once you open it. Also it has alcohol effect it said. I ate several times but it did not make me anything. The flesh of Durian also like sticky and smelly but not that bad taste.

Luwak Coffee

This is not a fruit maybe technically it is but i wanted to put here. From that animal Luwak and its poo. Yes it is a poo or from poo but maybe the most expensive coffee in the world. Well in Bali it is not that expensive. 

Papaya

Papaya can be found in different areas in the world too. It is not originally from Bali itself but you can find it in Bali a lot too. Probably you familiar with it and its taste anyway.  If not let me tell you it is like melon but orange color and taste slightly different. I like to eat it with lemon. 

Custard Apple

It is hard to eat this one because of hard its hard shell.

Mango

Mango probably you familiar. They call it Manga in local language. There are many kind of Mango in fact. Some of them are really tasty. 

Cashew

They call it something like Kaju in Bali. Cashew uses as a nut in fact and you can find in everywhere in Bali.

Jackfruit

Strange name isn't it? It looks like durian little bit but it is different. Local people dry it and eat it that way mostly.

Lychee

I like its juice  more than its fruit.

Rambutan

Rambutan is also from Malay Archipelago not specially from Bali only. Rambutan means hairy in Malay language. You can see it looks like hairy small ball.  

Duku 

Duku looks like Longan but different. 

Coconut

Maybe it is not Balinese but tropical fruit but that you can find a lot of them in Bali. A coconut can keep you alive without eating anything it said. Because it is water is like natural electrolyte. And its body very nutritious.  

Dragon Fruit

This one also my favorite. Not maybe taste. Taste of it little bit dry to eat it. Dragon fruit also called as Pitaya. 

Star Fruit

It is name come from its shape. Actually it does not look like star much.

Cacao

Cacao is hilly areas of Bali can be found mostly. 

Ananas

Ananas also one of the fruit you are familiar. 

Passion Fruit

It is little bit sour

Wani

It is a kind of mango but inside is white.

Jambu - Red Water Apple - Rose Apple

Jambu is local name but also internationally mostly called with this name. It has not much taste anyway. I can not say it is my favorite at least. It has also white one which name is White Water Apple. 

Balinese Orange

Balinese Orange, Orange Bali or Jeruk Bali is an orange in fact but it is size maybe 4 times bigger than normal orange. It looks like grapefruit actually more than orange but it is different type of orange believe or not.

Manggis

This is my favorite all time. They call it Purple Mangosteen, Manggis, Mangis. It comes from originally Sunda Islands it said.

Kelengkeng - Longan - Lengkeng

A small fruit similar with Duku but its different taste and shape inside. 

Soursop

This one also look like vegetable. Tomato also technically fruit anyway. 

Kacang - Balinese Peanut

Peanut of Bali smaller than normal peanut.

Cassava

Cassava maybe also not fruit. People eat its roots and make chips with it like potato or sweet potato.

Guava

You can eat by peeling it or without peeling it.

You can find all those fruits cheap at night market in Bali. It is not only open at night but day time too.

You see the samples above. Left one is normal image and right one with image border effect applied. So how can we do that?

I want to show you here a small trick to how to make image border effect by using java script. They call it hover effect or on mouse over effect so when user move cursor over it the script works. There are several ways to do it. You can put it in between head tags or for single picture directly into image tags.

Canon EOS 5d mark III

I felt in love with this machine. I hope i can get one soon. It is a professional camera which can even shut professional movies. It is really a monster. 22 pixel hd view you can get with this machine and some other technical capacity. Price is little bit expensive now like around 3000 usd but it is worth to have it if you know how to use it and also with some extra lenses maybe 300mm one it will be complete set. You can see sigma lenses which is compatible with canon. It has it is own lenses 24x105 mm but you can buy only body too if your budget not enough and then later on you can have an extra lenses. It is amazing how fast  electronic and IT improving because Canon just released their DSLR series first model just maybe 4-5 years ago and the first one with this one have huge differences.


It is one older model Mark II also quiet good. It said only difference between them is pixel is little bit higher in this and this one working more quieter.

I think only alternative for this monster is Canon 1d series last model.

What is cisco and microsoft certificates?

       Actually the question is do we really need it? Do you really need an IT certificate or self studying enough? Maybe everyone knows what Microsoft is but Cisco? What is Cisco really? Cisco is actually a network hardware producer based on San Jose, California and it is name come from San Francisco. Even in their logo is inspired by San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge. I do not know why? I think they love San Francisco too much. They are famous with their routers. Their routers use ios(not iphone), nx os, mds, SAN-OS operating systems which are mostly closed source code OS. It is founded by two Stanford University students in 1984 but their fate was not very good because their company bought for 10m. usd and they fired later on from company. Today they almost occupied  %95 of internet market, even cisco named router itself. If you use for example wireless connection probably you have a wireless g or n and Linksys it written there which is a cisco product. See the. IEEE 802.11 standards and WLAN
     
       Anyway the topic is not what they are but their courses and certificates.See the.  They have some types of certificates like CCNA, CCIE, CCNP, CNAP. See the. Actually Cisco little bit old fashioned now after Microsoft also started to give certificates like MCSE, MCSD,  See the.  Borland also had something like this before as BDN. However those certificates make you an certificated IT person and it gives you big chance to find a job all over the world.


     I  just wonder do we need to study there or self studying? I prefer to self studying. All this boring and expensive classes and in the end of class you recognize you did not get anything. But i do not know if you want to spend your money then just go there and tortured. See also this.

Le Mayeur Museum

It is named a Belgian pioneer painting artist expatriate Adrien Jean Le Mayeur de Merpres ( 1880-1958 ) who lived past years of his life in Bali. He was the one of pioneer expatriates in Bali. It is mostly said first artists came to this island and now it is sun and sea tourism destination. But long time ago it was back packers and artists place to visit. And one of those artists and famous one is Adrien Jean Le Mayeur. In 1932 he first came to Bali with boat to Singaraja which is old capital of Bali. Then lived in Denpasar. He felt in love with this island and its people and culture like most of people did. He met with 15 years old Balinese Dancer Ni Nyoman Pollok and later on married with her. She posed for most of his paintings. He first made an exhibition in Singapore in 1933 and became very successful.After he returned Bali from Singapore he bought a land and built a house at Sanur Beach


After he died in 1958 his house changed to a museum.

Bajra Sadhi Monument

Bali maybe mostly sun and sea tourism destination nowadays. But there are places to see inside the Denpasar City too. One of them is monument inside a park which surrounded by government buildings near Renon Area. 

Bajra Sadhi Monument is symbol of Balinese People struggle against Dutch colonial. It built in Puputan Margarana Square. Puputan means suicide in local language. So this name also related with this monument. Because last puputan organized during this conflict by Balinese Hero Ngurah Rai. Bajra means bell. It shaped as a bell. 

The best time to visit there sunday mornings. because it is inside a wide park you can see many local people there that time too. The road closed untill noon that time. 

It is not only monument but a small museum which inside there are dioramas.

Why Blogger? Why Lunix? Why not Word Press and FB

Nowadays I always here this. Google becoming more spoiled and try to use their monopoly for something like putting their blogs on first pages or creating google plus against facebook. It is really amazing people saying it while they using freely Google products like blogger. Why I saying this? What this guy talking about you can ask.

First of all let me say Google is free and blogger is free and Word Press is not free. Second of all Google is more into open source things which is very important. Especially if you are writing a blog you probably have enough capability to understand web designs, internet this and that at least little bit. If not , sorry then.

Did you ever hear the word 'open source' or 'hacker'? Do you really know what they are stand for? Or what the heck is OS? Why i hate wp or fb or mac or even windows?  Do you know why? I will tell you here. Because all those above i wrote are against the nature of web, computer and whatever this technology brought to you. Freedom! Cos that guys want to make money and more money. They do not care what you need or how to help you, no!!

Maybe sometimes in some platforms in chat rooms you heard some people talking about linux. What is linux? Or any Unix-like OS. Why you should use linux? No not because it is more secure ( like some of people says, why it is more secure is little bit technical thing which i can explain later on ). No not because it is cool. Because it is open source code. What is open source what is closed source. I will not burn your brain with those technical details neither. If you read this blog for long time you recognized anyway i try to use very simple language which everybody can understand not only tech gurus. That is what basically open source means. It is not hiding from you it is source code. You yes you from any simple users. Anybody who willing to learn  can reach their source code even can change it. But you can not do it in windows or mac. Fb will never tell you how their algorithms work In the movie of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg says i am not a bad guy. No, you are a bad guy and trully bad guy. People do not need to be thieve or hacker bla bla to get tag of bad. I meant if you do not believe me you can just search and even look at wikipedia type windows. On right side box you can see it is written closed source. I do not know what they hiding. You ask them.

Anyway if you do not care anything above just keep using your ipones, ipads bla bla because it is very cool i know i know...Yes Steve Jobs you cry behind him even more than you did to your father.And hackers are veryyyy bad people :D

Alaskan Malamute

Alaskan Malamute is mostly mixed up with Siberian Husky because their similarities. You can distinguish differences easily with their body, legs and even face more thicker and smoother than Siberian Husky. Also their temperament is different than Siberian Husky. Maybe only similarity is their colors and marks and they both husky type dog. Alaskan Malamute considerably popular dog and big dog . Alaskan Malamute is in working dog group. They used and still using as a sled dog.

Alaskan Malamute is not suit for apartment life. You have to have a big yard and fences. The fences also must be digged deep because Alaskan Malamute has high instinct for digging. So they can easily dig fences and make for themselves to quit from yard. They are quiet active dogs but when they getting old they can get calmer. This is also another different between them and Siberian Husky. Alaskan Malamute is loyal dog and they like to patrol in the filed which they believe it is belong to them. Their coat quiet thick and double coat. It defends them from arctic cold. In the hot weather conditions it is a disadvantage for them. So you have to have some places for them with shadows and even cold water.

Href link without underline

You may probably wonder how to design your linked texts on your blog or website. Probably wondering how to make them without underlined or different colored etc.. There are two different ways to do it. You have to use css for designing it.

How to do is like that you can just write in between head tags and it will apply all your linked texts or you can just use it for specific link only single one. I prefer not to use underlines. I do not know maybe some of you either not like it. It has some disadvantages but for me it is ok.

For css inside head or external css anyway you write like this below.

Iframe

Iframe is inline frame which you can use on your website and blogger posts like here too. You can put your main page or other pages into posts or with gadgets. You can put also some websites there too. What i see is blogger does not allow you put any website there but sites like amazon or ebay can be.

Alternative for guitar pro and totally free tablature editor and it is also open source program. You can also write tabs or use guitar pro tabs on it. It can read guitar pro files  like gp3,gp4, gp5.

Robot.txt

Robot.txt  is a file a text file which allows robots, search engines crawl your site better. It is not only for google bot but any search engine bots or even can be for any robot whose aim is different than searching.


You can simply write there

User-agent: *
Allow: /

What it means?" User-agent:*"   stands for any robot. Allow: / it is allowing robot search your website.

How to create a robot.txt for blogger

On dashboard, settings, search preferences find custom robot.txt. Usually default settings is disabled for it. But you can change it. Click to edit and Enable custom robots.txt content? choose yes. And underneath text area write what i wrote on top.

And top of it there is a message warn you " Warning! Use with caution. Incorrect use of these features can result in your blog being ignored by search engines.". It is true it can cause search engine ignore your site for example if you write there; "Disallow: /" instead of "Allow:/" .

Lets say you want to write it only for google. It can be. Because some malware and malicious robots can enter site if you allow any robot such as email collectors, etc..

User-agent: Google
Disallow:

User-agent: *
Dissallow: /

But this will result only google bot can crawl your site but not other search engines.

How we can use it on website not in the blog. You can use it on html meta tags between head tags. For example <meta content=robots.....


<meta name="robots" content="all" />
<meta name="robots" content="index,follow" />

and if you want they not follow a link you should put inside href tag this  rel="nofollow"
